Childhood illness during COVID

How to handle childhood illness during COVID
Posted on 09/17/2020
As we all work to navigate through COVID, here are some general things for you to know, as parents and guardians.

If your child is sick with one or more of the symptoms on our Wellness Screener, your child should stay home from school. Also, until an alternative diagnosis can be reached, or the child receives a negative COVID test, they, AND any other student within that household, must stay home.

An example of an alternative diagnosis would be if your student has known allergies, their doctor can provide a note letting the school know that this is the cause of the runny nose and occasional cough.

If your child comes to school and gets sick while here, we will contact the parent/guardian to let you know the symptoms and situation. Your child will wait for you in our Quarantine Room, either with the school nurse or office personnel.

When a child is sent home with symptoms, any other students who live in that household must also be picked up. This includes students who attend at any of our district schools.

While this procedure may seem strict, we believe that if everyone follows these guidelines, we have the best chance of keeping our students in school for as long as possible. We thank each of you for you help with this!
