SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS

 

Nominating petition forms for the April 17, 2007 school board election in Deer Creek-Mackinaw CUSD #701 will be available on November 7, 2006.  Forms may be picked up in the office of the superintendent, at 401 E. Fifth Street, Mackinaw, Illinois on any business day between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

 

A school board candidate’s petition must be filed in the same office no earlier than 8:00 a.m., Monday, January 29, 2007 and no later than 5:00 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2007.  Candidates’ names will appear on the election ballot in the order in which their nominating papers are received in the superintendent’s office.

 

Four seats on the seven-member board of education will be filled at the April 17, 2007 election.  Those elected will be seated at the reorganization meeting of the Board of Education in April, 2007.

 

Membership on the board of education is restricted to a maximum of three members from any congressional township.  On the basis of existing board membership, members may be elected in the following numbers from each congressional township.

 

            Not more than 2 may be elected from township 24N Range 2W (Mackinaw)

            Not more than 2 may be elected from township 25N Range 2W (Deer Creek)

            Not more than 2 may be elected from township 25N Range 3W (Tremont)
